TWP Link List: Sites Worth Visiting
A list of resources I’ve found helpful/interesting/entertaining. The list is just getting started, and I’ll try to update regularly. If you’ve got a blog you’d like considered for the list, drop me a line at josh@wanderproject.com. Happy Reading.
Mainstream Mags | Because there’s still good stuff being printed on paper
AFAR: Afar gets it. It’s a relatively new offering that focuses on experiential travel- the idea that travel isn’t about accumulating passport stamps and souvenirs, but about getting out of the tourist rut and making an effort to truly connect with a place and its people.
Budget Travel: What’s not to like about a mag dedicated to traveling without a trust fund? You’ll find budget-friendly destinations and tips for making expensive locales more reasonable, plus insight on eating/drinking/exploring at home and abroad without breaking the bank.
Men’s Journal: It’s not just for Men! Both genders will appreciate MJ’s adventure-oriented travel pieces, which include practical info on destinations and gear as well as feature-length stuff that’ll inspire you to get out there.
The DIYers | Quality travel blogs giving the magazines a run for their money
Uncornered Market: Audrey Scott and Daniel Noll have been traveling full time since 2006 (2006!), so they’re obviously doing something right. Fortunately, they share what they’ve learned in a site slammed with practical advice and poignant observations (and some great photography, too).
TwoGoRTW: Thorough, insightful and well-written, TwoGoRTW is one of the best resources on the Web for planning a RTW trip — and Kathryn and Daniel haven’t even left yet…
Two Backpackers | Jason and Aracely serve up solid travel advice and some of the best video blogging you’ll find anywhere.
Johnny Vagabond | Along with doling out loads of practical info, Wes Nations is asserting himself as an excellent storyteller (which one might assume of a guy with a barbecue reference in his blog’s subhead).
Nomadic Chick | Jeannie Mark’s enthusiasm for ditching her cubicle to see the world is contagious; if you’re especially fond of your 9-5 and your mortgage payment, you probably shouldn’t read her blog.
Everything Everywhere | Gary Arndt runs the kind of site you’d expect from a web consultant turned full-time traveler: it’s pretty much the most comprehensive one-man show out there.
Candice Does the World | Candice has launched an all-out assault on the travel blogosphere in her downtime from writing about deep-sea gadgets and editing at Matador. (She’s also a go-to source on drinking establishments in Newfoundland).
As We Travel | Nathan and Sofia have been traveling and blogging since their first RTW trip in 2008; their site documents their experiences and offers plenty of practical travel advice.
